ON 15 SEPTEMBER, BONNIE WRITES:

Now, I ask you, one and all, is there anyone among us who maintains contact as well as does the wife of 1960's GERALD A. FULLER, Becky? Are there any among us who are non-WC people, who write such a great accounting of our travels, as does Becky? Are there any among us who send in more photos for our website than does Becky? We must answer each of these questions with a resounding, "No, there is not!"
For this very reason, and by the power vested in me (which is absolutely none, I might add), I am at this very moment, inducting one REBECCA A. FULLER into the honorary status of WC alumnus and she now ranks right up there with the likes of KAREN MURPHY who is the spouse of 1960's WILLIAM O. WALKER. So welcome aboard, Becky! If you thought you were, "WC-challenged," before, just you wait! Ha! So scroll down, folks, and enjoy the very latest travelogue from the Fullers. Becky writes such great ones, there's no way for the likes of me to improve on this, and I sure don't want to compromise its quality by trying to recap it in a regular bulletin. Hey, only 18 days until alumni weekend! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAA!!!

Subject: The Traveling Fullers
September 12, 2006

Hey Everybody,

We’ve been meaning to update you all on our summer adventures for awhile, but have been so busy…..We apologize to those of you who we’ve kept promising to send this to….and also apologize to those of you who really, really are sick of hearing about the traveling Fullers!

Anyway, we’ll give you a short synopsis of what we’ve done over the summer. In June we joined the rest of the 24th Infantry Football Team at the annual reunion. This year it was in Dallas, Texas and as usual, we had a wonderful time. We flew in on a Thursday and stayed at the Adam’s Mark in downtown Dallas. Friday we visited the Sixth Floor Museum (formerly the Texas Book Depository) – if you ever get to that part of the country, please visit. It is heartbreaking but the museum is very well done – a piece of history you don’t want to miss. Dave and Hermi Ritter hosted a lovely dinner at their home that evening. Saturday found us at Willie and Carolyn Clark’s home for a picnic/Barbeque. Other than the heat in Texas, we have a wonderful time and look forward to next year in Cleveland. It looks like Jerry’s son Shane and his wife Kim will be joining us since it’s in Ohio. Should be another great time. We returned to Kentucky June 25th and had two weeks breathing time before our next trip.

On July 14th we flew to Salt Lake City, Utah for a family reunion (mine, for a change! ) along with two of my sisters and my brother. We stayed in a wonderful lodge in the mountains – their “weekend place” if you can believe it - that my cousin-in-law, Lynn built himself – it’s huge which was a good thing since there were sixteen of us sleeping there! It’s in the mountains overlooking a lake just northeast of Park City. While there we visited the 2002 Olympic Long Jump and various ski events, the Mormon Temple and were able to be there for a Sunday morning taping of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir – they are even BETTER in person than on TV. We also visited several of the venues in Salt Lake where Olympic events and/or awards were presented. A nostalgic stop was Westminster College which three of the aunts, one uncle and a cousin attended.

My brother and his family and my sisters and Jerry and I also took a two day very fast visit to Yellowstone National Park and were in Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming in 48 hours. You should see the Grand Teton which we drove through on the way back to Park City – amazing!

After a week, most of the family left and Jerry and I visited Bingham Canyo9n Mine – an above ground copper mine that is one of the two things you can see of earth from the space shuttle – the other being the Great Wall of China. We visited the Great Salt Lake and “Saltaire” and had salt water taffy from the lake. We then took our rental car and headed south to visit Arches National Park in Moab, Utah, the Colorado National Monument in Fruita, Co and Dinosaur National Park, which is in both Colorado and Utah.. We were lucky enough to see ancient petroglifts, real dinosaur tracks and visited several museums. The last weekend there saw us in South Jordan, Utah (a suburb on the south side of Salt Lake) where we stayed with my aunt and uncle for two days before we headed back to Kentucky.

We got home on July 31 and Dot and Charley from Savannah got here on Saturday for a terrific one week visit with us here at the lake. The following week we headed to Ft. Jackson, South Carolina with Shane to see our Megan graduate from Basic Training. It was beautiful, patriotic and heart breaking to see 1800 kids, most of who were 17-19 years old and some of which will probably be heading into harm’s way.

The next week I ended up in Louisville to be with my Mom, her older sister passed away. The next weekend we celebrated Mom’s 80th birthday with a Labor Day party and boy, did she make us all labor! We stripped wallpaper, cleaned and painted two rooms! We did also get to the grudge game of the year while we were there. My sister and her husband took us to the University of Louisville – University of Kentucky football game. It was great! Hard for me to know who to root for though!

Well, that about brings you up to speed except we sold our float house here on Herrington Lake, so when we leave here the first of October we won’t be returning – to the house, anyway. Not sure what we are doing next summer – Jerry really has the RVing bug so we’ll probably be out on the road somewhere…

We hope this finds you all happy and well and enjoying your adventures, too. And special get better to Jim Noles in Panama City Beach!

Love to all and stay in touch!
Becky & Jerry (Sarge)
